Bobber OTA Update: Disable Peer-to-Peer and Other Improvements

Aug 19, 2022 - Bobber pushed the latest OTA update at 1.30 am PST today. This is a Helium firmware-only release.

The following updates occurred in this OTA:

  1. Helium Firmware version updated to 2022.08.17.1_GA
  2. Bobcat Firmware version bumped to 1.0.3.4

From Helium Discord Announcement:

Miner Release: Disable Peer-to-Peer and Other Improvements
This release disables peer-to-peer activity when the Hotspot is no longer syncing the chain. This improves overall performance for the peer-to-peer network for other participants and stability of the network as a whole.

Other improvements include an update to HTTP2 process that the Hotspot uses to communicate to Validators (over GRPC), and a Kerlink-specific improvement that fixes the RSSI computation if the SNR is greater than zero to reduce the number of invalid Proof-of-Coverage challenges and receipts.

The miner reboots every hour or so! Getting tired of it!

Since the update my bobcat minor restarts every 30 mins or so I’ve tried a reset no luck. All versions as stated above. Anyone else having this issue?

Is tcp/44158 still need to be opened for p2p comms?

Will this be the answer to all my problems. I’ve purchased bobcat miner300 two months ago from a person. Because of all the changes, I’ve been unable to complete transfer so I have limited diagnostic options. What should I do? I’m on wired Network and antenna that was showing 27 connections before the light OTA. I’m hoping to get the needed PoC to complete transfer and sell it. Any ideas??
