Nov 21, 2021 - Bobcat pushed 2 separate OTA updates. The first was on 11/20 at 22:50 PST and the second on 11/21 at 7:35 PST.
Bobcat Miner Firmware updated from 18.104.22.168 to 22.214.171.124
Helium Hotspot Firmware updated from 2021.11.21.1 to 2021.11.21.2
These releases include highly recommended fixes to improve network-wide block sync and snapshot ingestion on Hotspots with less memory. Additionally, they include the following fixes:
Rescue blocks were not considered “plausible” by newer gossip code, and were not getting distributed except via fastforward.
The snapshot loading code has been rewritten to take much less memory, allowing lower-memory Hotspots to load snapshots and follow the chain more easily.
Read the Helium Engineering Blog here for more details.
You might temporarily see these displays or errors during an OTA update, which are normal and do not require intervention:
1. The LED light turns yellow
2. The Diagnoser cannot be accessed
3. The Miner (5s) pages show the error ‘RPC to 'firstname.lastname@example.org' failed’
4. The hotspot blockchain height shows ‘unknown’
5. The miner status is 'down'
6. The gap is '-'
All of these are temporary and you DO NOT need to do anything. The hotspot will go back to normal on its own once the OTA is complete.
