Oct 25, 2021 - Bobcat pushed the latest OTA update at 5:30 PM PDT.
The following updates occurred in this OTA:
Bobcat Miner Firmware updated to 1.0.2.35
The Helium hotspot firmware remains as 2021.10.18.0, which was updated via the last Bobcat OTA on Friday, 10/22.
This update is expected to resolve the below symptoms:
1. Region Undefined
The OTA will update the miner's region based on the asserted location
Note: If you do not assert a location, your hotspot will show ‘region undefined’ in the Diagnoser’s miner (5s) page. You will need to assert a location for the blockchain to learn and update the hotspot’s region.
2. Hotspot shows offline or fully synced, but still not mining
Blockchain data is growing extremely fast, and in some cases, accumulating garbage blockchain data at an abnormal pace. This OTA update will delete this garbage data, free up emmc hard disk memory, and automatically fast sync the hotspot to allow it to perform PoC activities and mine HNT.
3. Hotspots unable to connect to helium seed nodes
Some hotspots are not able to connect to seed.helium.io and therefore are not connecting to the helium network at all.
This OTA helps update DNS settings for these hotspots so they can connect to the seed nodes.
Other changes included in this update:
-
Closed UDP 1680 port to prevent cheating
-
The OTA version is now shown at the bottom of the Diagnoser’s menu page
Important Reminders
-
If your firewall settings have all of China blocked via restriction in both incoming and outgoing directions, your hotspot will not be able to connect to our device management platform and will not be able to receive the OTA updates.
-
If your hotspot OTA version is older than 1.0.2.28, please fill out the form here. The team will check this routinely and update any hotspots that are left behind on a daily basis.
